Joe Janish began MetsToday in 2005 to provide the unique perspective of a high-level player and coach -- he earned NCAA D-1 All-American honors as a catcher and coached several players who went on to play pro ball. As a result his posts often include mechanical evaluations, scout-like analysis, and opinions that go beyond the numbers. Though he always seems justified not to, does Klapisch EVER write an article of optimism or praise about the Mets? I remember writing him an email in 2003, pointing out his partisan viewpoint and never-ending hate-speech directed at the Mets. Of course, he denied “hating” the Mets, though I’m hard pressed to find evidence to the contrary. Because since that email I haven’t come across one article in which Klapisch has said anything complimentary about the Mets. Again, it’s not as though the Mets have given him much material to work with, but over 6 years there must have been something good. I realize it’s not the man’s job to talk up the Mets, but, as my parents used to say, “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.” 6 years and counting…got anything nice to say yet, Klapper?

And I’m in Mr Pignataro’s boat: bench Reyes, even if it’s for just one game. If his baserunning blunders aren’t grounds enough, at least give him a game off to rest. Didn’t Jerry say something about giving his ‘core’ players sporadic days off? My memory isn’t as good as it used to be.

Some people think I’m an eternal pessimist and negative nelly when it comes to the Mets … glad there’s someone out there worse than me!

Reyes is definitely at fault, but is he the only one? Is he or is he not following in the footsteps of the Mets “leaders” — the ones who are occasionally caught jogging, losing focus, making dumb baserunning mistakes, and not sliding?
