On Murphy at First
In today’s installment of “Manuel Being Manuel”, the effervescent manager of the Mets expressed his official support of the decision to position Danny Murphy at first base:
“I’m scared to death,” Manuel said. “If he can’t catch it out there, how’s he going to catch it in here?”

Nothing like knowing your manager has faith in you!
Big article about our old friend Bobby V in the Times today. Seems Chiba Lotte isn’t renewing his contract… just in time for a triumphant return to Queens?
Murph’s going to be so relieved to be back in the infield, I predict he’ll be fine
I think it’ll be better, but by no means am I expecting him to take to it like a fish to water.
Like everything else, there will be growing pains.
As we know full-well, the mental game of baseball is what gets you a majority of the time.
I just hope he gets to a comfortable place, that allows him to focus in the batter’s box……that’s really what he’s here for, after all.
2. I like the cintron idea.
3. Danny did great yesterday…..but his BAT was the culprit yesterday his 7 men left on base was the deciding factor. No doubt he will be OK tho. Interesting that his 1st base experiment;
– a. makes him even more appealing in trade
– b. opens another avenue for F-mart who has 7HR, a 280avg/340OBP/-800SLG at AAA…..in fact HE IS their offense.
Its news to me, especially his devoted following over there, but I’ll defer to you
