Lineup: Mets Game 48 vs. Phillies

Straight from the Mets’ PR Department, tonight’s lineup vs. Cole Hamels and the Phillies:

Jose Reyes – SS
Luis Castillo – 2B
Jason Bay – LF
Ike Davis – 1B
David Wright – 3B
Angel Pagan – CF
Jeff Francoeur – RF
Henry Blanco – C
Mike Pelfrey – RHP

Looks almost exactly like the lineup that’s been working for the past week, except for Hank White.

I think it is worth noting that none of the Mets-Phils games have been competitive. All blowouts of one sort or another. This will not continue and eventually the Mets are going to have to win a close game against the Phillies. Can they?

Well, the bullpen is rested for a change. Optimally, Pelfrey goes at least 7, Pedro strikes out Philly lefties in the 8th and Frankie closes it in the 9th.

Looks like the Mets may really have a pitching staff/pen. And on top of that a hitting/defense along w/it.

If this keeps up (and it looks like it should do that) and on top of that throw in Beltran/Murph, it means that this is the team that the Wilpons put together for we, "the fans of the Mets". YAY Freddie/Jeff.

Still not crazy about Castillo batting 2nd and Wright batting 5th. It would be nice if these two could be switched, but I guess in Jerryball it's just not going to happen.

Failing that, I guess it would help to start Chris Carter instead of Jeff Francoeur, and have him bat immediately behind Wright so there is a more dangerous bat giving him some protection. Sadly I guess that is also not to be.

    You want Castillo batting 5th?
