HOLY CRAP do I feel (and look) STOOOO - pid !

Steve, thanks for setting me straight. That's an inexcusable error on my part.

Be assured I have taken a teaspoon of castor oil and subjected myself to two hours straight of videotaped at-bats of Doug Flynn circa 1979.

Thanks again for the correction.

Tim Teufel spent the past year managing the Savannah Sand Gnats in the METS farm system, not the Giants farm system!

I think everyone likes Mazzone, unfortunately. He went to Baltimore to be with his buddy Sam Perlozzo. Unless the Mets re-hire Perlozzo, I doubt he'd be interested in New York. And in any case, Rick Peterson is definitely with the team for at least another year.

I don't think Conti has any worries about returning. If he wants to come back, and Pedro wants him back, he'll be back. Pedro still has significant influence (and should).

I'm not much of a Maz fan myself, and was throwing him out there as one of the few players from the '86 team that are still involved in baseball in a coaching capacity. In truth I'd imagine he'd be something of a threat to Willie, since he's a former manager.

Julie, I think I can see why you'd want Mel back as the pitching coach, but if anyone other than Peterson was our pitching coach, I'd want it to be either Leo Mazzone or Guy Conti. BTW, I hope that Conti survives to be the bullpen coach next year, for the reason that Pedro really likes the guy, and I heard that Pedro credits Conti for his comeback as quick and as strong as it was. (Don't know if this is true.)

I'm sorry, I'm not a Maz fan. I don't think he does a good job on SNY either. I would like to see Stottlemyre as pitching coach.

Reyes didn't really go sour until after Rickey got to the first-base coaches box at Shea. For that reason, he needs to go.
