Pitching staff walked 10. Plus we struck out 14 times.Horrible excuse for a major league game today.If I paid $2.50 for a ticket as per the promotion for game I still would have felt ripped off.Without Reyes and Wright they look like a triple a team
The Mets always play ugly games vs. the Nats.
It is pretty amazing actually the team only gave up this many runs. A wild pitch and two walks (one excusable — Byrdak started with bases loads and no one out, came out of it with a run) led to three of the runs.
The home plate umpire didn’t help. Early on, it helped the Mets a bit, but later, not so much. Bay and Collins (ejected) and even (the usually blase) Gary/Ron being upset is notable there. I realize you deal with it, but Bay has enough to worry about. Lousy calls while batter against an ace is just a bit too much.
Nice that Ike got a hit. BTW, Reyes’ replacement has a .333 batting average and made repeated excellent plays in the field. Cedeno got multiple hits yesterday. Davis, Bay and Duda all not hitting in this series is more of a problem there.
My main point is that without Reyes and if wright is moved there is no starpower on the team and Thet will not be able to draw flies (even at 2.50 per ticket
I know what you are saying but especially with Santana pitching, I think “no star power” is exaggerated.
Ballpark was half empty with Santana on mound.Gonna be a ghost town in August and September…
