It started out like a game from 2008, but finished off much differently — and it had little to do with the names Putz and Rodriguez.
It was as if the Mets were following a script written by Omar Minaya, as they beat the Cincinnati Reds to win the first game of the 2009 season.
Blowing the lid off the blown saves theory – the additions of J.J. Putz and Francisco Rodriguez to the Mets’ bullpen may not make any difference at all. A closer look at the Mets’ 29 blown saves of 2008, and the blown saves of the closers they acquired.
Assuming that Francisco Rodriguez passes his physical, he will be signing a contract with the New York Mets either today or tomorrow.
That said, I have one piece of advice for Omar Minaya:
