To replace Tatis, who is hurt, and who was used to give Ike Davis a day off every now and then. To do this with someone who hits and to give him more at bats. Let’s see how he does.
Except, Chris Carter plays 1B — so there is already someone to give Davis a day off and he is also someone who hits.
