Random Act of Managing: Josh Thole at First Base?

The Mets have a good, young, left-handed hitting first baseman named Ike Davis. So why would they even consider this?

Manuel also floated the concept of letting Thole work out at first base while he’s at the major league level, although the manager changed his statement mid-sentence and made it seem that Thole would work out there, but not actually appear in a game. (ESPN New York)

Just Manuel bein’ Manuel, I guess…

While they’re at it, why not give Luis Castillo a catcher’s mitt and have him learn to catch while on re-hab? 🙂 😉

To replace Tatis, who is hurt, and who was used to give Ike Davis a day off every now and then. To do this with someone who hits and to give him more at bats. Let’s see how he does.
