Well, it’s better than giving up something of value for a broken-down Breslow or a walk machine like Brothers. If they just want a warm body to give opposing lefties a tough look, they should call Byrdak and Feliciano to compete with Rice in the spring. There are only a handful of LOOGYs who are any guarantee to be better than those guys, and we won’t be getting any of them.

Personally, I’d be happy with someone like Eveland, who’s not a LOOGY, but can still be used to face the hitters who are simply awful against all lefties.

No problem with Everyday Rice on an invite so long as he is org depth and insurance. Still need a legit MLB LH arm but those are going for minimum %5 mil annually and our cheapskate ownership doesn’t want to play with the big boys.

By the way, if the Dodgers’ young OF phenom plays well they could be scary good.

Today’s big news is that the Mets signed Mayberry Jr. to a major league contract. I’d rather have his dad…right now. Meanwhile, Dodgers, Red Sox, and Tigers rebuilding their teams on the fly. What a difference cash (or in the case of the Oakland A’s imagination) make.
