Latest On Botts

We’ve been drumming up the idea of taking Jason Botts / Nelson Cruz off the Rangers’ hands for a few months now.

Interestingly, the situation surrounding those two sluggers is getting a lot of attention in the Texas blogosphere. Check out Lone Star Ball’s latest take on the Botts / Cruz dilemma … some seem to think that either or both of those players would pass through waivers without being claimed. I’d love to see one of them become available to the Mets.

I hope Omar’s taking a look at the waiver wire, and it’s potential candidates. It’d be nice to pick-up a serviceable RH bat with pop — and in stating your case over the winter, both of these guys (I’m more intrigued by Bott – FWIW) — I’m on board with this guy as an option for LF and 1B as needed.
