Feel Good Friday: Mets Honor Cancer Survivor

Jessica Lyons of the Queens Courier has the story of Courtney Stewart, a 14-year old cancer survivor who was recently honored by the Mets at Citi Field. Courtney’s six-year-old brother John Jr. threw out the first pitch as Courtney stood with him at the pitcher’s mound.

The Stewart family won the chance to throw out the first pitch at an auction to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). The LLS will hold its annual Light the Night Walk in Forest Park Queens on October 16. More information can be found at the event’s website.

John Fitzgerald is an independent film/TV producer. In 2007, he followed former Mets 2B Wally Backman and his minor league team for the TV show, "Playing for Peanuts." Click here for DVD ordering information NOTE: $5 from each sale goes to maintenance costs of MetsToday.com
