Quote of the Day: Brandon Inge on R.A. Dickey

Photo: NY Daily News

How tough was it to hit against R.A. Dickey’s knuckleball last night? Ask Brandon Inge:

“One of (the pitches) I thought was gonna hit me and then it came in for a strike,” said Brandon Inge. (Detroit Free Press)

Pretty scary, especially considering Inge had one of the Tigers’ four hits.

Watching a knuckle baller when he has it going from a fan's perspective is more fun than watching someone like Johan. I sat watching it with my father last night and we were just laughing because it looks so much easier on tv with the speed of the pitches. Obviously it isn't that easy otherwise Dickey would have a blemish on his record.

Dickey has certainly been a very pleasant surprise this year. He started out well in the minors this year, going 4-2 with a sub 3.0 era, then stepped it up even more once coming to the Big Leagues. I hope he continues to pitch this well, as the Mets can certainly use as many solid starters as possible.
