Mets 5 Braves 0
So much for the “scary stretch” and fear of a six-game losing streak.
Mets Game Notes
What more can you say about Dillon Gee? He refuses to lose. Gee has the third-highest number of victories among NL pitchers. People keep waiting for him to fall back to earth, but it hasn’t happened yet. This time, he gave the Mets 7 shutout innings, allowing four hits and two walks in a highly efficient, 85-pitch effort.
How about Jose Reyes? He whacked his 10th triple of the year, driving in three runs.
Josh Thole might be out of his slump; he went 2-for-3 with a double.
Additionally, Dan Murphy stayed hot, getting another two hits in four tries.
This was a pretty quick and efficient game. It took 2 hours and 19 minutes, which isn’t that incredible, but the number of pitches each team saw was unusually low — the Mets saw 110, and the Braves saw 111. That’s what happens when pitchers throw strikes.
Next Mets Game
The rubber match begins at 8:05 PM. R.A. Dickey faces Tim Hudson.
And amazingly, Gee played around with a cutter as he was warming up for his start, and threw maybe five of them in the game effectively.
But Bay looked lost again…..
In defense of bay he is fighting his way out of a post concussion syndrome. I think he will win.
Gee. So much for sixth starter.
Attendance continues to plummet…. just think of the emptiness if the wilpons/alderson’s go ahead and let Jose leave.
Sums it up for me….

Every time I see Gee pitch I can’t help thinking of Greg Maddox. I keep dreaming. Maybe…
You know, Dilon, and Niese are doing really nicely. Add a resurgent cappy, a decent RA Dickey a returning Santana and we have a nice 5 man.
Please send relief help.
How’s DJ doing? 🙂
