Blog Roundup: Monday Edition

Looks like somebody has a case of the Mondays.  The Mets lost 2 of 3 to the Phillies over the weekend, which isn’t bad considering the Mets fielded a AAA lineup plus Jason Bay.  Tonight, the Mets play a makeup game with the Marlins at Citi Field, and Jose Reyes will play a rehab game in Brooklyn.

Time to take a spin around the blogosphere:

  • MetsBlog takes a look at Jason Bay’s struggles, and notes that the fans have been relatively easy on him.
  • Amazin’ Avenue has a Minor League wrapup that includes David Wright’s continuing rehab and Val Pasucci’s Hobbs-esque exploits with the bat.
  • Real Dirty Mets says the Mets are a roller coaster, and there’s nothing to do but sit back and enjoy the ride.
  • Mets Lifer is just happy that the injury-devastated “worst lineup in baseball” won a game.
  • Midwestropolitan invents a new baseball cliche with the help of Jason Bay.
  • Rising Apple is losing patience with the increasingly frustrating Mike Pelfrey.
  • Metstradamus thinks Mets fans should be realistic about the trade deadline.

    “AAA lineup plus Jason Bay”

Pagan is AAA? Jason Bay is MLB level?

Jason Bay’s nice guy persona and injury last year helps explain fan reaction but it’s getting to the point that he’s truly bad for the team. Unlike Perez and to some degree Castillo (fairly or not), it isn’t about him. But, when he is a rally killer AND hurts the team in the field, well two more years is just painful.

It also is probably time for Pelfrey to go. Given some of the starting pitching out there, at times even on decent teams, some team should be willing to pick him up w/o the team just giving him away.

When the other team beats you with the awesome talented bat of Mike Martinez with zero career home runs and pitched their 7th starter then saying you did pretty good with minor leaguers is to ignore what the other team fielded. Mayberry, Martinez, Kendrick a 4th closer named Bastardo I think they have tyheir own set of problems.

I like bastardo. He is beato with more upside, and a starter if on the mets. If i csn strike a deal with the phils he ‘ s the guy i want.
