About Joe Janish

Joe Janish began MetsToday in 2005 to provide the unique perspective of a high-level player and coach -- he earned NCAA D-1 All-American honors as a catcher and coached several players who went on to play pro ball. As a result his posts often include mechanical evaluations, scout-like analysis, and opinions that go beyond the numbers. 1. You’re quite fast, Mr. Janish.

Joe you and everyone that leaves comments on this site are great. I lost my job two weeks ago and since then have been watching every Mets game. Some were good games, some were great games and others were pitiful games. It was a rough two weeks, sometimes I felt like Church did when he missed third base, but the Mets and this site were always there to cheer me up (and frustrate the hell out of me sometimes.)
I start a new job tomorrow so I might not be able to watch as many games (I have to be at work at 3am, I’m a bread baker so the hours are nuts)but I know that this site will be here to tell me what’s going on with this crazy team. Other sites have great prose (Faith and Fear) but this site explains what happened in each game the best of any site I know of. Joe, I may not agree with all of your opinions but the way you expliain them makes sense. Thanks Joe and everyone else for this great site.

NWaldrop – thanks so much for the kind words … it helps justify all the time put into the site and motivates me to continue with MetsToday. Without you and the other readers, there wouldn’t be much point, would there?

BEST OF LUCK with the new job!!!

We’ll do our best to keep you informed. Hope you continue to occasionally have time to chime in with your comments, as they add significantly to the MetsToday experience. All I can do is start the conversation — it’s continuing the conversation that makes this site enjoyable for everyone.

Thanks again. Now, time to make the donuts … er … bread!

  4. I second nwaldrop.

    Good stuff, Joe.

And the fact that you let us posts our comments differentiates you from other Mets Blogs (ehem ehem, Matt).

    Keep it up, JJ.

  5. Oh and Joe – can we get a post about “Peacocks” for once? I’d love to see what happens down below…
