A few days ago, the Mets clinched the certainty that they would not make a postseason appearance this season.
With their loss last night to the Braves, they’ve also clinched a losing season — guaranteed.
You see, their most recent lack of success was their 82nd of the season. Since there are only 162 games in a season, it is mathematically impossible for the Mets to reach .500 — much less a winning season — even if they finish on a 17-0 winning streak.
On the bright side, it’s also mathematically impossible for the Mets to lose 100 games. So there’s that. Yee ha.
There’s too much negativity in the world and in the news. It’s refreshing to know that Mets fans won’t have a 100 game loser. The world is a brighter place.
