About Joe Janish

Joe Janish began MetsToday in 2005 to provide the unique perspective of a high-level player and coach -- he earned NCAA D-1 All-American honors as a catcher and coached several players who went on to play pro ball. As a result his posts often include mechanical evaluations, scout-like analysis, and opinions that go beyond the numbers. Joe Morgan and Orel Hershiser don't know anything about baseball. How could they doubt Jerry Manuel for batting a left-handed rookie in the cleanup slot against Sabathia. Don't those guys know the old rule: "You never put a rookie in the cleanup spot unless it's permanent"????

    (sarcasm)

Kevin, but you forget you only put a rookie in the cleanup spot when he's able to bat fourth. Or something. 😉
