Joe, i noticed that Reyes is not playing the opener. We now have the “Reyes Rules”.This means he takes one game off a week so he doesn’t tweak his hammy, or oblique or whatever. This means he will play about 135-140 games a year.Or almost the same amount of games that he would play with 2 trips to the DL.The Mets have become a ciircus sideshow,
Reyes recently came off the disabled list and often regulars don’t play both games of doubleheaders PLUS September, especially when the games don’t matter, is the normal time given to see how back-up players and call-ups (and Tejeda is a call-up) play. How exactly is it a “circus sideshow”?
Did the Yanks have Jeter or A-Rod play both games of doubleheaders each time too, particularly when one or the other was hurting? And, are you saying that 140 games of Reyes a year is “a circus” if the alternative is having a back-up play much more than twenty or so games plus some of the remainder having Reyes play partial speed? Is Reyes the only star player who has to be used with some sort of finesse? Not quite seeing it.
Jose’s a great juggler.
I agree with Joe. It is perfectly appropriate to give Reyes a
game off in the twinbill. I would expect (hope) that Wright
is given off in the second game.
