So I’ve just read that fill-in first baseman Michel Abreu has suffered a hip flexor strain and that lefty pitcher Jason Vargas was sent to Philadelphia for his own mysterious hip injury.
Is this for real or are the newspaper guys playing with us? Could two more Mets possibly be injured? What are the odds?
They say things have to get worse before they get better … have we reached “worse” yet?

Vargas, I hadn’t heard about — but I figured you knew about Abreu already.
He hurt his hip sliding into homeplate the other day, too. Met players aren’t having too much luck at all lately — let alone with their attempts to slide (Gotay, Abreu, etc.) in Spring Training games.
I recall someone asking why we hadn’t mentioned Abreu as Delgado’s successor, and I understand this may just be something minor…..but Abreu’s already off to a hobbled start. Thought it was out there already.
Admittedly, I don’t put much stock in Vargas….but “great” to hear he’s hurting too.
Is anyone feeling well enough to play?………..BUELLER………..BUELLER……..
The quickest and easiest song I’ve ever written:
(Of course, sung to the tune of Meet The Mets ’62 version)
Gimpy Mets….
Hobbled Mets….
Downright Ger-i-a-tric Mets.
Throw your back out
Go under the knife….
Half the fanbase wants to take their own life!
Because the Mets are really roaming the halls
With canes and walkers….
Smells like mothballs…..
Hamstrings
Ankles
Twisting, Ripping, Tearing, Pulllllls…..
They just can’t keep-it on-the-field
To play — some — baaallll……
awesome song! i want that made into a ringtone!
Provide me with the materials — I’ll get it done. William Hung in his prime has nothing on THIS guy.
