Game 97: Win

Mets 4 Astros 3

It looked like it was going to be another ugly El Duque outing, as Orlando Hernandez gave up three quick runs in the first inning. However, he immediately righted the ship and ended up pitching seven strong innings, giving up only those three runs and four hits total wit eight strikeouts.

Helping him was Xavier Nady, whose three-run homer in the fourth topped a Carlos Delgado sac fly in the second to make the difference in the ballgame. El Duque and the solid Mets bullpen cruised the rest of the way, pushing the Mets to their 59th victory.
