Help Omar Minaya

As we all know, prominent members of the New York Mets front office visit this website on a daily basis, taking stock of your comments and gleaning the great ideas of yours truly. What is stated here is integral to the Mets’ strategy meetings and strongly influences personnel decisions.

OK, maybe not, but we can dream, can’t we?

Toward that unbelievable dream, I invite you to participate in the annual “Rate the Mets Free Agents” poll. Your vote may not have counted the last time you entered a voting booth, but I assure you it will this time. And not only is it not required to register with a specific party, but you can also vote as many times as you wish (just like in Florida!).

There are 91 players to vote on, on a scale of 1 through 10. Is El Duque a “5”? C.C. Sabathia a “10”? Does Willie Bloomquist get any number at all?

In short, what better way to waste time on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, and throughout the four-day weekend?

By the way, there are no “Easter eggs”, but there is one turkey among the candidates. Have fun finding him.

WARNING: the poll is extremely addictive. Please do not participate if you have obsessive-compulsive tendencies.

Happy Thanksgiving !

Joe: I think you have unfinished business. You have wandered into the hot stove but did u ever assign any grades for 2008?

Suggest: How about a position by position analysis scored 1-10 in performance with individual scores for the suspects…(chance for us to comment on your scores) then a list of two players you would want to see (realistically) at the position next year.

ie: Catcher overall grade C /6
    Castro: 5
    schneider 6
    2009 candidate: Varitek.

Yeah, where can I sign up for an aging, overpriced, 100+ strikeout, .220 hitting catcher who’s never played a game in his life in the NL?

Hmm … grades … let me work on that. This voting booth and the bullpen document have been taking most of my time lately. But I’ll get moving on it … thanks Mic!
