Joe Janish began MetsToday in 2005 to provide the unique perspective of a high-level player and coach -- he earned NCAA D-1 All-American honors as a catcher and coached several players who went on to play pro ball. As a result his posts often include mechanical evaluations, scout-like analysis, and opinions that go beyond the numbers. Tip of the cap to Mr. Boryczewski — and all of the victims/families who have been affected by the events of 8-years ago.

Did you ever play against my former teammate and friend Joe Doyle, Joe?…(you may be a few years older than him.)

As cliche as it sounds: we will Always Remember.

Joey was a tough kid, I was a coach against him when he was at Wagner and I watched him play in HS (we recruited several players out of SJBTS). Marty worked with Joey at Cantor Fitzgerald … maybe they are batterymates now in the Field of Dreams up in the sky.

    RIP

Tough as nails, soft as a marshmallow when it came to including anyone and everyone in the shenanigans (of which there were MANY) — he is missed today; and always.

That’s interesting….so you probably recruited some of the players on that City Championship team. I actually know alot of players that have passed through SPC, through the years. We might have some more acquaintances in common.

That would be somethin’, Joe. We can only hope.
