The Big News: 10 Guesses
In case you missed it, Mike Francesa announced on his Monday radio show that he would, on Tuesday (today), be delivering news of a “major update” regarding the New York Mets.
Here are my top ten guesses at what that “major update” will be:
1. A second Shake Shack will be opened at Citi Field.
2. Moises Alou has been signed to a two-year, $20M contract.
3. Citi Field’s outfield fences will be pushed BACK another 35 feet all around.
4. Ticket prices will be slashed another .046% (on average).
5. Peter Gammons will replace Marty Noble as the Mets.com beat writer.
6. “Dog Day” will be revived at Citi Field. There will also be a “Cat Day”, “Parakeet Day”, and “Tropical Fish Day”.
7. Beer will continue to be sold after the 7th inning at home games.
8. Joe Buck, Tim McCarver, and Joe Morgan will join SNY as the gameday announcers. Gary, Keith, and Ron will cover the Buffalo Bisons’ radio broadcasts.
9. Chico’s Bail Bonds will be the team’s primary sponsor, and the uniform colors changed to yellow and black.
10. The team will be moved to Brooklyn in 2011, and the name changed from “Mets” to “Codgers”. The aforementioned Alou signing will be announced shortly thereafter.
Anyone else with an idea? Post it below.
Met PR must be scrambling right now; and since they can’t hold a gun to any player’s head to sign with the team, I’m thinking the announcment may be:
“Come see our new freshly-painted ‘Offensive Orange’ stair-wells at Citi!! They’ll hurt your eyes so bad, you won’t have to watch what’s on the field!”
…..Yawn…..
Wake me up when something good happens.
P.S. – Hope everyone had a nice Holiday with their families. All the best in 2010, fellas.
To which Minaya holds a press conference and it goes something like this, “I had to kind of tell myself, “Wow, these things are coming out.” And I say this because coming from Mike Francesca, okay, and Mike, you gotta understand this, Mike, for the past couple of years, has lobby for a player development position. So when these things came out I was kind of a little bit, I had to think about it. And I was a little bit, you know, somewhat, kind of, we gotta find out about this.”
Bay is signed, pending a physical. Big Man delivers on his promise of big news.
Hmmm.

2, 5, 8, and obviously 10.
I was hoping it was that the Wilpon’s couldn’t take the pressure of owning the Mets anymore and were going to sell the team to some exorbitantly rich Mets fan who will bring in the best baseball minds and give them 170 mil to do whatever they want with. But I am a dreamer, huh?
