Roster Moves Review

There were several transactions involving the Mets over the past week. So, in case you missed it …

Jose Reyes was activated from the disabled list.

Ruben Tejada was demoted to AAA Buffalo to make room for Reyes.

Nelson Figueroa was claimed on waivers by the Phillies. He was the losing pitcher in his first appearance as a Phillie, giving up a bloop double to Ryan Zimmerman that drove in the winning run for the Nats’ first victory of the year.

Sean Green was put on the disabled list with a strained right intercostal muscle — that’s somewhere in the rib cage area.

Raul Valdes was promoted from Buffalo to take Green’s place on the roster.

Clint Everts and Shawn Bowman were designated for assignment. It’s assumed both will go unclaimed and return to the Mets’ farm system, possibly to Buffalo.

Shawn Riggans, who spent parts of the past four seasons in MLB with the Tampa Bay Rays, was demoted all the way down to the AA B-Mets.

Speaking of backup catchers, Chris Coste — who was claimed by the Nationals at the tail end of spring training — did not play this past weekend because he’s on the 15-day DL after hurting his elbow in one of his first batting practice sessions with the club on March 31. No doubt at least a few boo-birds were hoping to see him make an appearance at Citi Field.
