Mets Looking At Qualls, Bottom Line

According to Jeff Fletcher at AOL Fanhouse, the Mets are looking at former Arizona closer Chad Qualls. Qualls has had an awful season, posting a 1-4 record with 12 saves, an ERA of 8.35 and a WHIP of 2.07.

Sources close to the Mets continue to tell us that the Mets will not add payroll and they are very unlikely to trade Jenrry Mejia, Wilmer Flores or Josh Thole, thus substantially limiting their potential targets. In short, they probably won’t go after Octavio Dotel, Roy Oswalt or even Ted Lilly. Instead, Brett Myers and Chad Qualls are much more likely to head to Shea.

I had it with this team.Im going to my local sports bar tonight in a Mets jersey with my buddies and we are going to root against the Mets.Maybe if they lose enough and attendance is down in Aug/Septmber we can get new ownership.Ya gotta believe!

Chad Qualls? Are you serious? If they get him, who does he replace? My guess is the MORE effective Bobby Parnell. Adding payroll AND replacing an effective reliever w/ an ineffective one, now THAT’S smart. I don’t want to see Parnell replaced right now, but if they do AT LEAST replace him with someone BETTER! Omar, what are you thinking?

actually, the chances that Myers or Qualls would head to Shea seem very unlikely to me.
