Tonight’s Mets Lineup vs. Padres

Here is the lineup the Mets will send to bat against Padres pitcher Wade LeBlanc:

1-Angel Pagan CF
2-Justin Turner 2B
3-David Wright 3B
4-Lucas Duda 1B
5-Jason Bay LF
6-Scott Hairston RF
7-Ronny Paulino C
8-Ruben Tejada SS
9-Chris Capuano P

Lucas Duda gets the start at 1B and in the cleanup spot because lefties are hitting .524 against LeBlanc — plus, Duda had the big hit yesterday so he deserves it. But that doesn’t explain why Scott Hairston is in RF instead of Jason Pridie or Mike Baxter. Nick Evans is still on the team, right? I wonder if he’d be starting if he hit lefthanded instead of righthanded? Though, Willie Harris is on the bench, so maybe not. BTW, that .524 mark is based on a small sample size — only 21 plate appearances — but in LeBlanc’s MLB career lefties have hit .318 with a .907 OPS against him.

Pridie is a defensive replacement. Hairston is hitting. I reckon Baxter or Evans might get a start in one of these (oh joy) seven games vs. the Padres. Nice numbering.
