This is NOT a joke: the Mets will be hosting a concert series this summer featuring REO Speedwagon on June 15, Cheap Trick on July 20, and MercyMe on August 10.
Seriously.
Again, Cheap Trick followed by MercyMe. Did no one involved in the decision consider the names of these bands in regard to the current public perception of the organization?

Hope the Wilpon’s will take the hint when Cheap Trick belts out “Surrender”!!!
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well done, Hart.
Fred will just pass out some 5 dollar bills
Spring training and almost all of the baseball world is talking baseball. Not us. We get to talk about bad owners, bad concerts, anything but baseball. Ain’t we lucky to be Met fans!!!!!!!
Izzy,
you neglected to mention Valley Fever.
I’ll miss the show (due to continental distance), but Cheap Trick is a classic booking. REO and the other one: that’s total AA doo-doo.
I happened upon a Downfall parody on the Mets on Youtube. It was from ’09, but well, it’s still mostly apt.
A lot of easy potshots here. The optimists here (you know who) will say they knew about the implications but had a sense of humor about them.
