Ian Desmond, SS
Jose Lobaton, C
Gio Gonzalez, SP
Colon makes his official Mets debut.
Flores was promoted to take Daniel Murphy‘s spot on the roster (and apparently, in the batting order), as Murphy is on paternity leave — he’ll be back with the Mets on Thursday. Congrats to Daniel and his wife Tori on their first child — Noah (8 lbs., 2 oz.)!
With Gio Gonzalez on the mound, Josh Satin gets the start at 1B.
If someone said a month ago that Juan Lagares would be batting leadoff in Game 2, would you have believed it? Or do you remember Colin Cowgill?
Lagares, Wright, and Andrew Brown are all on pace to destroy the single-season homerun record; at the rate all three are mashing balls over the fence, they could finish with 162 HRs each.
With Bobby Parnell on the DL, Kyle Farnsworth has been promoted and will be available tonight out of the bullpen, so breathe a sigh of relief.
The Mets have not started a season 0-2 since 2005 — when they started out 0-5. However, the Mets went 83-74 the rest of the way that year (.528 winning percentage). The Mets haven’t lost their first two home games of a season since 1997.
