Quote of the Day: Mets Need to Relax With Beltran

Rob Parker of ESPN New York on the Mets handling of Carlos Beltran’s seemingly imminent return:

The Mets need to relax, reel it in a bit.

This talk, even in the smallest of terms, about Carlos Beltran returning asap is sheer craziness.

And the Mets, of all teams, should know better. The only thing they have done more of than choking down the stretch that last five years is leading the league in medical gaffes.

There’s simply no need for Beltran to be rushed back. (ESPN New York)

So, by my calculations, this means that the Mets have had at least 3 medical gaffes. 2 choke jobs < 3+ medical gaffes.

The only gaffe medically right now is Santana. Ed Perez at ESPN had the breakdown of why Santana appears ‘mortal’ this yr…his velocity is down, arm angles out of whack…what is he trying to compensate for…..elbow issues?

as for rushing Beltran…wasnt he supposed to be ready in May? As is, he will barely make the trade deadline (HINT)…not; if traded to the AL he can DH at least 1/2 time.
