Phillies Acquire Hunter Pence

According to ESPN, the Phillies have completed a deal to acquire Astros outfielder Hunter Pence.

Reportedly, the main players sent to the Astros include Phillies prospects Jarred Cosart, Jonathan Singleton, Josh Zeid, and a player to be named later. Domonic Brown is apparently NOT part of the deal.

Pretty big pickup for the Phils, who for some time now have been desperate for a corner outfielder with pop.

    How is it that after 120 years of futility with the occasion blip the *Philadelphia Phillies* get so good so fast? They’re gonna win their 5th straight division and they’re getting all the best players. How did this happen? It’s unnatural.

      The Phillies did have a good run from the late ’70s until the early ’80s. And, there wasn’t three divisions those 120 years. Finally, the Red Sox won two championships.

      History has been upended.

    Joe, A city of Philadelphia crazy fans are having a blast, not only Pence signing, Asmougha for Eagles. Phillies farm is getting very dry and gave up alot of prospects within 3 years. I think in future, Mets looks great while Phillies are aging with alot of 30s players starting. Victorino, Utley, Rollins, Howard, Polanco, Ruiz, Halladay, Oswalt, Lee and Blanton. Enjoy your at least 2 years of winning til they get older.

    I think the Phillies will keep winning as long as the keep up with formula they are using. Rebuilding is for the birds, who needs prospects when you add lee holiday oswalt pence lidge to your team? thats why the phils are in first and we are in third with Gee turner duda evans thole ect. Its a feel good story but you cant compete with a team with that kind of talent. I sound like a broken record but these prospects turn out to be all stars about 5 to 10 % of the time. Its worth the risk of trading them for proven major league stars.

    Pence = Jayson Werth, Jr.

    ………especially in that park.

    Ed Wade needs to be investigated for collusion charges, lol — not sure I’d ever be this good to an organization that fired me; unless – of course, I wanted to work for them again in the future.

    Said completely seriously, and without any sort of malice. It’s kinda crazy what the ‘stros are doing over there.
