Mets – Twins Game Postponed

According to MLB.com, today’s game between the Mets and Twins has been postponed due to inclement weather in Minneapolis, Minnesota. There is light snow and rain in the forecast with temperatures in the 30s, and a wind-chill in the teens.

The game has been rescheduled for August 19th, right after the Mets conclude a left coast swing and just prior to hosting the Braves in Flushing. Interestingly, the Mets had both that Tuesday as well as that Thursday (August 22nd) slated as off-days. So no worries, they’ll still get a day off that week (pending further postponements).

Further, the weather in Colorado this week is looking even worse than it is in Minnesota, with snow expected on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, with temperatures dipping into the 20s and single-digit wind-chill factors.

We can craw all we want about poor scheduling, but in the end this could very well be the best thing for the Mets. The old Braves had a phrase that went “Spahn, Sain, and pray for rain”; perhaps the Mets can go with “Harvey and Niese is nice, followed by snow and ice.” Or something …
