Mets Game 86: Win Over Rangers

Mets 6 Rangers 5

Mets finally win a one-run game.

Mets Game Notes

I saw about ten minutes of this game, so don’t have much to say. It seems the Mets caught Yu Darvish on an off night and found a way to overcome an early injury by Jonathon Niese. Lucas Duda continues to insist on hitting the way a Major League first baseman should. Travis d’Arnaud stays hot. Eric Campbell goes 3-for-3, which, on Planet Collins, means he’ll sit the next game.

Please post your notes in the comments.

Next Mets Game

Mets and Rangers do it again at 7:15 PM on Saturday night. Bartolo Colon faces Colby Lewis.

You’re correct, Soup is sitting. He’s hitting but his defensive work at third was poor.

You didn’t miss much. It was 4+ hours of uninspiring baseball. TC still uses the attempted sac on TDA’s next to last (runner thrown at at 3rd) at bat with Tejada and the pitcher up next. Just sad that he won’t/can’t adjust. You would think that Alderson would use the available metrics to show TC that the sac usually isn’t worth it unless it’s your pitcher.

Neise heading to DO with undetermined shoulder issue…As you accurately predicted based on his unusual faulty mechanics…question stands as to why was he removed for a bruise then immediately disabled??

Meticated…right on!! Joe predicted Niese would hit the DL at any point…either Joe has a crystal ball or he has some scientific analysis to back him up…ummm.

What surprises me is that the Mets should have at least the same information we have, but apparently prefer to do nothing about it, as almost all MLB clubs do.

Guess the Mets just lost the opportunity to trade Niese. Which team is going to trade for Niese with a “shoulder issue”??

And to add something else in Niese’s injury, take a look at this article from ESPN:
